Job Summary:
The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for performing a variety of skilled plumbing tasks to ensure the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The incumbent will work independently or as part of a team, adhering to safety guidelines and industry standards while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and fixtures, including pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, water heaters, toilets, sinks, and other related equipment.
2. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and configuration of plumbing systems.
3. Inspect plumbing systems to identify and diagnose issues, and provide recommendations for repairs or replacements.
4. Adhere to local, state, and national plumbing codes and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
5. Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and construction workers, to ensure effective coordination and completion of projects.
6. Estimate materials, equipment, and labor costs for plumbing projects.
7. Perform routine maintenance of plumbing systems to prevent future problems and ensure optimal functioning.
8. Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies, resolving plumbing issues efficiently and effectively.
9. Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each task.
10. Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
11. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
12. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and new technologies related to plumbing systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Successful completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program.
3. Valid Journeyman Plumber license or certification.
4. Proven experience working as a Journeyman Plumber.
5. In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and regulations.
6. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve plumbing issues.
7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
8. Proficient in using plumbing tools, equipment, and materials.
9. Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform plumbing tasks.
10. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
11. Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
12. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
13. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
